Funky Accessories for Women

by Eddie Prentice

If you're going to accessorize, why not go all out? Funky accessories are usually incorporated into casual outfits or costumes. Now's the time to include them in your fancier attire. Vintage broaches, emerald chunky rings, and sparkly clutches are featured on style icons and runways all the time these days. Join the trend with these items.
Bags: Sequins, studs, and gold chain straps.
There's nothing that jazzes up a bag like sequens and studs. Whether you're after a vintage, disco, or rock and roll look, sequins and studs will help get you there. Diane von Furstenberg is incorporating feathers, Dolce & Gabanna gold chains and bright coloured fabrics. For a more affordable version of the look, it's worth looking to New Look or French Connection. Shiny clutches can be paired together with a dress for a more elegant look, while a big bag should be matched with skinny jeans and motorcycle boots for an edgier image.
Jewellery: Gold, emeralds, diamonds, rubies, and sapphires. Carousels, peacocks, and bangles.
Costume jewellery has always been a fun way to accessorize an outfit. Big gold bangles, sparkly hoops, and peacock feathers add texture and glam to a look. While costume jewellery has, in the past, usually been worn casually, nowadays many high end designers are getting involved in the excitement. Chunky rings with embedded emeralds are being worn by fashion icons, just as designer bangles and pendants are.
Outerwear: Long gloves, snoods, ear warmers.
Thanks to Mad Men's incredible representation of 1960s style, all of the decades fab trends are back! This includes puffy skirts, floral prints, and long gloves. Long gloves are the perfect accessory to pair with a winter cape or a sleeveless dress. They are the epidamy of elegance and femininity.
They are where scarves and hoods meet, snoods are equally popular this season. They can be worn around the neck or up on top of one's head for ear and skull warmth. They are cute, cosy, and totally on trend.
Ear warmers have always been a big hit amongst little girls, but in recent years they have become a great fashion accessory for women. Ear warmers are a great way to keep your ears warm without getting hat head. Moreover, they are easy to match with coats and outfits, something that can be tricky with hats. Not to mention that hats don't always good, whereas ear warmers always work.
Hair pieces: headbands and barrettes.
Typically headbands are worn by preppy girls, however recent years have seen the emergence of funky headbands. From little top hats, to lace, to sequens and bows, headbands are all the rage. Can someone say Blair Waldorph? For inspired ideas check out Accessorize as well as vintage shops in your area.
Barrettes are an easy way to pin some sparkly or pearls onto your luscious locks. The ones that you comb in work really nicely for a polished look, while the clips create a flirty, girly effect.
