One of many major British artists of the North

British contemporary art began in the 1960s and is present up to now, this born of the era of many major British artists of the North. This movement has seen a great change in the wealth of the nation, and the power of individuals to spend increased. During this era is an artist named Lowry. Known for his modern cityscapes, Lowry became known in Britain as a great artist.

Lowry was raised in the streets of the North of England, Lancaster. His father Robert was a real estate agent and his mother Elizabeth, who has shown disregard for his talent as artist, was a concert pianist.

At school, he was shy and made few friends and had no great academic achievements. He spent most of his time to make sketches and paintings. He used to use everything that was with him to make a work of art of the place around him. He left school and himself engaged to a few art lessons private in the dark on drawing hand thrown and traditional.

Lowry was persistent to continue to learn from the French Impressionist artist Pierre Adolphe Valet and fortunate to have an exceptional and highly respected teacher, who encouraged him to find his own distinctive style. Later, he developed his interest on industrial landscapes and began to create his style.

In interviews later in his life, Lowery held that he had an ordinary childhood. His mother had difficulty giving birth to him and was uncomfortable seeking him because she aspires to a daughter, jealous of her sister Mary, who had three daughters. She used her illness to attract attention and controlled the lives of his son. It becomes an imperative figure in the life of s. Lowry, and when it became confined to bed, he takes care of him until his death in 1939.

A few years later, Lowry said he regretted that he had received little gratitude as artist. During the war, he enlisted as a fire watcher in Manchester and became a legitimate war artist. During the coronation of Elizabeth II, he was appointed an official artist in 1953. He was selected to the order of the British as an officer and Commander Empire which both he declined. It seems to grasp the record of the battle honours most wilted following the refusal of a Knight and appointment to the order of the companions of honour. He received a degree of honorary award of the master's degree by the University of Manchester and the doctor of letters in 1961.

He succumbed to pneumonia at the age of 88 in the Woods hospital in Glossop Derbyshire February 23, 1976. He is buried at the cemetery in southern Charlton Manchester. He left a cultural legacy of greatness, with his works inspire other artists and works of art.

A collection of work Lowry, known as "The Lowry' composed of 55 paintings and 278 drawings are public continuously in a gallery of contemporary art of building in Salford Quays." In 1968, one of her paintings called Coming Out of School which depicts the great artists is a stamp of the post.
